Using PBwiki as a document repository can dramatically reduce the number of email attachments you have to send.  Even a simple repository like the one below can provide helpful context for official and unofficial documents.

To add a document, click on "Insert links > Images and files", and upload the file.  The file should appear in the right hand menu.  Highlight where you'd like the link to go and click the filename.

To extend this template, you can either click within the table and use the "Row > Insert Row" command, or use "Table Properties" to expand the table as desired.

Name Author Version Notes
CyborgCamp Logo "Silom" @xolotl 1.0 Simple font-based logo study. Also available as an AI file.

Sample poster design for #cyborgcamp on TwitPic Sample Poster @kram 1.0 Another take on the poster.
Sample Poster @idleglory 1

merge of photography and info to create a poster

Concept  @reidab  beta2  Print the first two sheets and align them, when light shines through from the back, you get something akin to the third image. Encourages interaction on an otherwise flat plane. More thought to come.
CyborgCamp Identity Sketches 1 Sketches @tylersticka   CyborgCamp identity sketches; attempting to get my brain working. Not sure what direction to pitch, or if a typographic mark would be better suited.
CyborgCamp Identity Sketches 2 Sketches @tylersticka   More sketches, see above. Hard to find imagery of human and machine as one with enough visual brevity.
CyborgCamp Logo Concept 1 (Rough) Mark Concept @tylersticka   Very rough, inspired by @caseorganic's Twitter of this photo. Still not sure I've hit it yet, but this feels closer to me; at least there's progress!
CircuitPlant: Logotype (Composition 1) Mark and type digital roughs @tylersticka   These were the products of a meeting with @caseorganic, @brampitoyo and @kram at Backspace. View the Flickr photoset to see variations and comment. :-)
Logotype (Rev 2) Logo/logotype revision @tylersticka   Elongated the stalk and altered the leaves, allowing the type and mark to interact more closely. Incorporated "PDX" and "2008" into logo. Still no fine-toothed kerning yet.
Rev 3 Logo/logotype revision @tylersticka   The only problem I've been having with the current direction has been too much visual complexity, with strokes interacting with shapes (circuits) and filled shapes (leaves).

After having a conversation with @erikjung and @peterwooley, I wanted to reduce the visual complexity while suggesting that mechanics have their roots in organics, rather than vice-versa.

This is a bit of a dramatic change from the previous, more representational direction, so feel free to lay it on me with feedback. :-)
Rev 4 Logo/logotype revision @tylersticka   Oddly, I kind of went back to an earlier comp and attempted to simplify the mark as much as possible to get the visual brevity I was looking for.

Also included is an alternate composition, which I think is too complex (containing, shape, etc.), but sort of interesting.
Maybe B+W Final Logo/logotype revision @tylersticka   Here it is! Thanks for the comments, everyone.

Any kerning suggestions are welcome at this point. :-)
B+W Final Logo/logotype @tylersticka   Thanks to everyone for their comments, critiques and suggestions.
Color 1 Color logo/logotype @tylersticka   First stab at adding color. The type's hue is a lighter value from Amber's original poster design, and the circuit blue, leaf green and wooden brown are all based on a certain amount of proximity toward that hue.
Color 2 Color logo/logotype @tylersticka   Some super subtle changes.

I experimented with color, detail and strem transition suggestions from the last comp, but this one had the greatest amount of visual impact. Thanks for the feedback regardless!

I like AC's overall layout and font, but if we are, at all, trying to get the poster to lure people in, and/or make them want to buy one, I think something with color might be better. I'm not saying my design is it either. Just sayin'. Is there any desire to have a poster with a cyborg looking person on it?

Mark -- could you send me a bunch of images? Ones without the circuit boards, and ones just of the circuitboards? We'll get together with a pen drive and download.

I dig both the poster comps so far, but I would buy the more monochromatic version in a heartbeat. The grunge in the background reminds me of Banksy's cover for Blur's "Think Tank."

Really, we should try to force people to use tools and interact in some way with the identity and promotional materials. Pondering now.

Sweet Reid. That is excellent.

Good thought, Reid. The posters should make people interact with it in a way that would emphasize the point that CyborgCamp is trying to get across.

Am extremely glad, by the way, to have excellent designers (Tyler, Idleglory, Reid) in the camp! Now we know that the visual aspect of it will not suck ;)

We need to have a Skype meeting (Monday or Tuesday evening?) about this. I think there's a way we can reconcile the "OK Computer"-esque intrigue of the latter poster concepts with the visual draw of Amber's original compositions, in a way that will lend itself to the interactive element Reid mentioned.

Speaking of data visualization, I've got R and GGobi up on my machines if there's some actual data anyone wants to take a grand tour through, etc. :) But all of my working examples are from Linux I/O performance metrics. And I think I have the Shockwave movie creation part working now.

This identity sketching has been challenging! Perhaps a typographic mark is the way to go. Sketched myself into a corner, so thought I'd just post the stuff up and see if any of it triggered a thought process.

I like where you're going, Tyler. The handshake reminds me of http://bit.ly/wishyouwerehere. The art of this band, the MOST cyborgian band ever (also the funkiest white men on earth), Kraftwerk, might be worth looking at. Their videos are interesting as well. www.kraftwerk.com

Some had better play "Man Machine" at the after party! It would make a great theme song too.

The updated mark is stronger, especially for the kerning it allows, but I feel like the plant stock is now too thick, making some of the leaves look out of place, as though they were placed on and not grown on. Other than that, the mark is really getting strong. Oh, and while I don't love the PDX 2008, I can't offer any solutions and do feel its necessary to be present. Nice work, Tyler!

I too think the new suggestion of "organic to mechanical" evolution makes more sense. One thing that bothered me about the previous mark was how tall and slender it was, but you took care of that issue with this version. I also like how the curve of the C in "CAMP" matches the root below it, which (knowing you) I'm assuming was intentional ;~D

I agree that the organic to mechanical evolution is evocative...especially as "roots" can also be read as "veins", but the current "tree" on the top of the latest version reads a bit like a dead tree to me...did you try it with a more circuit-boardy top an in the earlier designs? I don't think the visual complexity was overmuch before...

The main reason I think I like the top better is that it suggests a kind of unbounded openness and connection outward, which is more in keeping with (my) idea of cyborgia. The bottom is nicely packaged, but I think that's not keeping in the CyborgCamp spirit ;)

Repeating my other comments from flickr here:

I think both have their good qualities. But I'm leaning toward the top. While it's true that the box mark on the bottom stands alone better...I don't imagine we'll end up needing the mark to stand alone. The top lets just the cyborgcamp and the mark stand alone and allows us to trim off the PDX 2008 and replace it with, say, YVR 2009 or whatever easier ;) I can already see a sticker and/or Tshirt with the top one ;)

Fantastic Tyler! Can't wait to see color! I'll post it on the wiki header as soon as we have one ;)

The logo in color is quite cute. I'm enjoying how desaturated the colors are and am happy to not see any straight black (I don't know why, I thought it might happen).
I will say that my eyes went directly to the shift between blue and brown on the mark (plant stock). I think the use of the slant is more successful than straight horizontal, but I still feel a dissonance. Did an entirely brown stock just look too heavy and not techy enough? I can't offer too much help, and I will _not_ suggest a gradient, but it's currently the thing stopping me from loving the color version.

Tyler Sticka is my personal hero. I think I might apply for beatification for him. Usually you have to be dead and stuff, but he's performed so many miracles that, jeez, I mean it might be time to just get it over with.

And a snappy dresser!
